About Spirituality Today

Spirituality Today LLC welcomes anyone who seeks the presence and guidance of the sacred in the midst of life.

We are all works-in-progress when it comes to our spiritual understanding. That means that it’s never too early, or too late to begin spiritual direction, attend a retreat, or engage in other spiritual formation practices.

Spiritual direction provides a safe, confidential space for you to explore your understanding of the spiritual life with a trusted spiritual guide by your side. Meeting with your director approximately monthly establishes a regular rhythm of spiritual reflection in the midst of interrupt-driven lives. Working with a spiritual director regularly also provides assurance that you are discerning God’s guidance among the many voices that seek to influence our decisions today.

Finding a good fit for your spiritual director is very important. That’s why I offer a complementary session to get started. Please also feel free to use the contact page to ask any questions you might have.

Spiritual Direction is offered in one-to-one format, either in person or online. Group retreats are also available, and can be a simple way to get started. Finally, the blog on the home page is regularly updated with musings about a variety of topics.

About Mary…

I’ve had a passion for Spiritual Formation and Direction since long before I knew what that meant. I’ve had a lifetime of personal experience in seeking to follow God’s guidance and have over 20 years of working with others as a spiritual companion, retreat leader, and guide. I have been working with my current director for close to a decade and still find the spiritual journey exciting.

I worked in the corporate world for over twenty years before responding to the call to become an ordained pastor (elder) in The United Methodist Church. I discovered Spiritual Direction in seminary and have been learning and practicing ever since. I received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Spiritual Formation and Direction from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in October 2022.

As with many people, my life journey has had twists and turns. Some have brought joy, while others have challenged me almost to the breaking point. Maintaining a strong spiritual foundation and having a spiritual director to encourage me has helped me navigate the most difficult times.
